Six Lopes Sign LOIs to 4-Year Universities

Six sophomore members of the Lamar Community College Baseball team signed letters of intent on the April 13th NCAA signing date.

Lalo Porras signed with Lewis & Clark State College; Jeremy Hochmuth signed with University of Colorado, Colorado Springs; Alex DeBell signed with Tarelton State University; Beecher Strube signed with Metro State University Denver; Andrew Schwulst signed with West Texas A & M University; and Ryan Laydon signed with University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

Lalo Porras is a 190 lb, 5'10" player originally from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  In his freshman season at LCC, he batted .333 in thirteen games at short stop.

Jeremy Hochmuth is a 225 lb, 6'2" first baseman for the Lopes.  Prior to LCC, he attended Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He batted .381 in 55 games as a freshman at first base.

Alex DeBell is a 195 lb, 6'1" right-handed pitcher from Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, Colorado. In his freshman season, DeBell went 10-2 on the mound with a 1.65 ERA and Honorable Mention All-American.

Beecher Strube is a 210 lb, 6'6" left-handed pitcher for the Lopes.  He comes to LCC from Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, Wyoming.  He went 2-2 with a 3.84 ERA as a pitcher his freshman season.

Andrew Schwulst is a 215 lb, 6'3" right-handed pitcher.  Originally from Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, Colroado, he went 0-0 his freshman season with a 5.40 ERA.

Ryan Laydon is a 170 lb, 5'9" left-handed pitcher from Pueblo East High School in Pueblo, Colorado.  He went 1-1 with a 3.98 ERA as a freshman.

These six sophomore join the four Lopes that signed during the early signing period in November of 2015: Joe Rosenstein (Washington State University), Donny Ortiz (Metro State U of Denver), Jacob Giron (University of Arkansas Pine Bluff), and Ambrose Romero (Colorado State University Pueblo).
