Lopes earn split at Seward County

The LCC softball team split with Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas on Sunday. In the first game, the Runnin' Lopes were unable to get their bats going and fell 3-1 despite a strong performance from freshman pitcher Lauren Reedwho struck out five and allowed only four hits. Mercedes Salazar recorded the only two hits of the game for the Lopes, including a solo home run in the second inning.

In the second game, freshman Larissa Royer led the Runnin' Lopes to a win with her play in the circle and at the plate. Royer struck out seven and hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to give the Lopes a 5-1 win over the Saints. Sophomore outfielder Desiree Ramirez also contributed an RBI sac fly in the fifth inning. 

The Runnin' Lopes are scheduled to play Friday, March 10th, against Adams State JV, and will begin Region 9 play on Saturday, March 18th at home versus Northeastern Junior College.
