Runnin' Lopes Softball played four games this weekend splitting with both Garden City Community College and Luna Community College.

On Saturday, the Lamar Community College team came up short against the GCCC Broncbusters, losing 1-5 despite a solo homerun from sophomore Desiree Ramirez in the 5th inning. However, the Lopes got their bats going in the second game and defeated GCCC, 9-5.

The offensive attack was led by freshman Mackenzie Rowlett, who hit a three-run shot in the second inning, and sophomore Kelsee Bushell, who also hit a three-run homerun in the seventh.

Freshman Lauren Reed threw the win for the Lopes, while freshmen Delaney Ramos and Larissa Royer also contributed in the circle.

On Sunday, the Runnin' Lopes dropped a tough game to Luna, losing 7-9 in the seventh inning of the first game. Once again, LCC was able to make a comeback the second game, defeating the Rough Riders 9-7 in the final inning.

Freshman Seriyatie Keck hit in the tying RBI, scoring Royer who got on base with a single. Rowlett also came through clutch for the Lopes, going 4-5 on the day with the game-winning RBI. Reed threw six innings for LCC and freshman Keilee Womack completed the final inning and received the win.

The LCC softball team plays next on Friday, February 24, at Seward Community College.  The Lopes return to Citizen's Field on Saturday, February 25 when they take on Seward at home.
