Lopes Golf continues to struggle with illness

The Lamar Community College men's golf team once again struggled with illness in the Northeastern Junior College tournament held September 20-21.

Only two LCC players were able to finish both days of the tournament, causing another Did Not Finish for the Lopes team. 

Joey Penovich once again led the Lopes with a two-day total of 152 (73-79).  He finished tied for ninth place and +10 for the course.  Alex Acosta-Hernandez finished with a score of 166 (83-83).  Keith Mergenthal shot a 79 on day one, but was unable to compete on day 2.  Craig Collings was unable to travel with the team due to illness.

Eastern Wyoming College won the tournament with a score of 568 (E), followed by McCook Community College with 587 (+19), Northeastern Junior college with 612 (+44), Otero Junior College with 622 (+54), and Central Wyoming College with 625 (+57).

The team will travel next to McCook Community College in McCook, Nebraska for the September 27-28 tournament.
