LCC Golf takes third in OJC tournament

Jeremy Minnick

The Lamar Community College Golf team traveled to La Junta for Region IX play scheduled for Thursday and Friday, April 23-24. The tournament went as scheduled on Thursday but was cut short due to weather.

Jeremy Minnick led the Lopes, finishing fourth on the day with a score of 78.  Minnick was followed closely by Facundo Boero (81) and Josh Lovett (82) who finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Austin Matheny came in 24th for the tournament with a score of 91.

Lopes finished in third place as a team with a total of 332 (52+).

Otero Junior College won their home tournament with a team score of 314 with Eastern Wyoming College a close second at 317.  Following the LCC team were McCook Community College (346), Northeastern Junior College (351) and Central Wyoming College (358).

"There is always room for improvement, just have to stay focused and get the job done said Jeremy Minnick. Being only a couple holes down from a better placing makes me want to work harder."

The team will host the next tournament at the Spreading Antlers Golf Course in Lamar on March 30-31.
