The Lamar Community College men's basketball team finished 1-1 this past weekend in the Northwest Tech Classic in Goodland, Kansas.

On Friday night, the Lopes faced the JV squad of host Northwest Kansas Technical College.  LCC took advantage of this game to test a different starting lineup with Mitchell Ward, Jack Peck, Onuralp Demerir, Tugay Balyan, and Quashaun Breland.

The team was up by nearly 40 points going into the half and maintained that lead throughout the second to finish the game 112-71 over NWKTC JV.

LCC's Jack Peck and Justin Holliday led the team's scoring with 24 points each.  Holliday also chipped in 12 rebounds and 10 assists.  Breland added another 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Lopes, while Balyan added another 18 points.

On Saturday night, the LCC team faced the NWKTC varsity team. The Lopes came out strong and led most of the first half, but Northwest Tech was able to close the gap and inch ahead of the Lopes.  At the half, NWKTC led by two points, 40-38.

After the break, Northwest Tech came out on a 12-0 run. The Lopes worked hard to recover and were only six points down with two minutes left in the game, but they weren't able to regain the lead.  NWKTC came out ahead, topping the Lopes 92-82.

Sophomore Sam Boone led the Lopes team in scoring and rebounding with 18 and 9, respectively.  Holliday also contributed 9 rebounds, along with 14 points, and Richard Caldwell scored 15 or the team as well.

Next on the Lopes' schedule is Clarendon College.  LCC will host the Texas team on November 14, 2017, starting at 7:00pm.
