LCC Volleyball Sweeps TSJC to End Regular Season

LCC Volleyball Sweeps TSJC to End Regular Season

On Saturday, October 26, the Trinidad State Junior College volleyball team came to Lamar for the final region and regular season match for the Lady Lopes.  The LCC team focused on mistakes made during the Otero Junior College match and came out swinging hard.  LCC made short work of TSJC, winning the match 3-0 and ending the regular season on a high note.

There was very scrappy play on both sides of the net throughout the day, but the Lopes outplayed to finish the three matches with scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-16.

"We fixed a couple areas that hurt us in the OJC match but we also saw one player go down with a rolled ankle. The team stepped up and rallied around each other and fought to win the 2nd set,"  commented Head Coach Brandon Stephenson.  "It was good to get the sophomores a win on their final home match at LCC and for the team to win against our opponent that we will play first round."

The Lady Lopes end their regular season with a 17-18 overall record and a 4-6 region record.  This places them in the 4th seed position heading into tournament play.  They will take on TSJC in first round action on November 4 at 7 pm in Sterling, Colorado.

Looking forward to tournament play, Coach Stephenson said, "Since we know who our opponent is going in, we can start game planning for it. These ten days will be good time for us to heel up and to really study our opponent's weaknesses and tighten up the areas that we need to for that opening round.  Looking at the bracket, we have a good chance to make a run to day three of the tournament. We just need to take it one match, set, and point at a time."

"It's time to put all the hard work that these ladies have done into action. We have seen every team in the tournament and have a good game plan going in," said Coach Stephenson.

The Tournament will be webcast and tournament updates provided through the NJC website. You can see all the action at www.gonjc.com.
