Lamar Community College sophomore Lana Skripkina has signed a National Letter of Intent with Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md., to continue her academic and basketball career. Morgan State competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

This past season at LCC, Skripkina averaged 10 ppg, 7 rpg, and 2 apg for the Runnin' Lopes. In addition to those averages, Skripkina connected on 56 made 3-point field goals and made 67% of her free throws. Skripkina had 13 double-figure scoring games this season, with a season high of 24 points against Kansas Wesleyan JV on November 9, 2018.

"I chose Morgan State University because of the prospects the program has. Also, the coaching staff is confident in the future of the program and are big on development and cohesion. I really liked the team spirit and the great coaching staff they have at Morgan State University," Skripkina said.

"We are proud of Lana and her decision to sign with Morgan State University. Lana is a very skilled player and at her size, she is very capable of playing on the perimeter or in the post area. I was at another school this year and coached against Lana this year, and she was definitely at the top of our preparation as far as who we needed to focus on defensively. This is the goal for us as coaches at the junior college level to have players be able to move on from here, to find a great fit for them both on and off the floor and academically, and to have our players become better for being at Lamar Community College. We look forward to seeing Lana continue to be successful at Morgan State University," Coach Kellen Fernetti stated.
