Softball Goes 3-3 For the Week

The Runnin' Lopes Softball team went 3 and 3 last week in a six game spread against Seward County Community College, Western Nebraska Community College, and Northeastern Junior College.

LCC softball started the week on March 3 with a two-game series against Seward County Community College. The Runnin' Lopes split, losing the first game 2-8 and winning the second 8-4. Malea Orozco threw the win for the Lopes, while Jerhen Montez led the offense hitting 4 for 6 with four RBIs and one double on the day. Dani McFarland also contributed to the LCC win with two triples.

On Saturday, March 5, the Runnin' Lopes dropped two to Western Nebraska Community College, 1-14 and 0-11. Alyissa Parson and Malea Orozco took the losses for LCC who struggled to string hits together and put up only one run for the day. Bailey Douglas went 1 for 2 in the first game with a solo homerun, putting the Lopes ahead early on, but their defensive efforts were unable to hold off the tough Cougar offense.

Despite a tough day Saturday, the Runnin' Lopes responded strongly on Sunday, March 6, taking two from Northeastern Junior College. In the first game, Stevie Wadsworth threw a complete seven innings for the 2-1 win. Kelsee Bushell went 2 for 2 while Bailey Douglas scored the two RBIs of the game.  Malea Orozco recorded the second win for LCC, while Bailey Douglas stayed hot at the plate going 3 for 4 with a homerun and a double. Kasey Bouck and Taylor Worth also came up big for the Lopes, both going 2 for 3 in the 5-3 win over NJC.
