Lopes Rodeo to host Antelope Stampede

The Lamar Community College Rodeo team will host its annual Antelope Stampede on September 29 through October 1 at the Prowers County Sand & Sage Fairgrounds.

Fred Sherwood, Lopes Rodeo head coach, said of the event, "We're looking forward to hosting the Stampede.  We hope everyone will come out and support the team."

Fourteen teams from throughout Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska will compete over three days with performances at 6:00 pm on Friday, 2:00 pm on Saturday, and 11:00am on Sunday.

Cost of entrance to the rodeo is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for students, free to kids 12 and under. Tickets can be bought at the gate or prepurchased from any LCC Rodeo team member or Coach Sherwood.

The team will start their season this weekend, September 15-17, at the Chadron State College Rodeo in Chadron, Nebraska.  They will then travel to Sheridan College the following weekend before returning home to host the Stampede at the end of the month.

LCC's roster this year is comprised of twenty members including twelve on the women's team and eight on the men's.

Coach Sherwood is looking to two returners, Tacie Canfield (McClave, CO) and Ashten Marchant (Newcastle, WY) to lead the women's team.  Three freshmen are expected to perform well for the men's team, including Nate Hoey (Montrose, CO), Cortez Waddell (Woodruff, SC), and Ace Coors (Loveland, CO).
