Lopes Golf kick off fall season in Wyoming
The Lamar Community College men's golf team started the fall season with a tournament hosted by Central Wyoming College.
With only three Lopes competing in the tournament – Joey Penovich, Alex Acosta-Hernandez, and Keith Mergenthal - the team was unable to post a score and received a mark of Did Not Finish.
Penovich led the Lopes by tying for 9th place and shooting +10 on the course. He finished the tournament in with a score of 152 (73-79). Acosta-Hernandez followed with a two-day score of 166 (83-83). Mergenthal shot a 79 on day one, but was unable to compete on day 2.
Eastern Wyoming College won the tournament with a score of 568 (E), followed by McCook Community College with 587 (+19), Northeastern Junior college with 612 (+44), Otero Junior College with 622 (+54), and Central Wyoming College with 625 (+57).
The team will travel next to Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, Wyoming, for their September 13-14 tournament.
