Sports Medicine Mission & Vision

Vision

The Lamar Community College training room provides on-site sports medicine services to the student-athletes of LCC.  These services include injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.  Our goal is to integrate education with equal access to the athletic training room.

Mission

The mission of the Lamar Community College Sports Medicine Department is to provide state-of-the-art and evidenced-based healthcare services to our student-athletes by using a comprehensive approach. It is our goal to enhance the health and wellbeing of the student-athlete through education, injury prevention, and injury rehabilitation. We intend to fulfill our mission statement by creating a comfortable, professional, and caring environment within the athletic training facility, assuring that our emergency procedures are safe, efficient, expedient, and up-to-date.  The underlying philosophy for this department is that the medical needs of the student-athlete shall always be the first consideration for all members of our staff. Furthermore, we are committed to addressing problems and concerns in a timely manner.

The purpose of Sports Medicine Department is fourfold. First, we hope to allow student-athletes easy access to sports medicine services. Second, we hope to encourage a philosophy of sport that places a high value on health and wellness. Third, we hope to enable injured student-athletes to return to their sports as soon as medically safe. Finally, we hope to be able to substantially reduce the risk of athletic injury for those student-athletes we serve.
